We have now worked on Mrs. Damian's dry erase board holder followed by 2 weeks of your own projects (which stretched into 3 weeks). We're now ready for our next project. You predominantly agree that wood is the area you would like to concentrate on. Here are the two areas I'd like concentrate on.
Rough and ready
You need to be able to 'slap it together' as my father would say. In other words, make things fast and efficiently, while still being accurate and functional. Jigs would fit this model--you need them for a project, but they shouldn't take a lot of time. I'm going to ask each of you to make a saw horse for the shop. As a class we're going to pick from this list, then all make the same one--or at least pairs of them. You will be limited to the plywood and 2x4 and 1x4 stock that was left over from the prom, as well as their GRK fasteners.
Fine and fancy
We're going to make some nice jewelry boxes for this. I have a collection of plans from which we'll pick one, or maybe two and spend a couple of weeks working on them.Our deadline is to have these finished in time to auction off at the Empty Bowl supper at the end of November.
